Artist-Grade 100% Cotton Paper, 30 Loose Sheets 14.2x10.6", Hot Pressed. Made with thick 140 lb / 300 gsm Type-C watercolor paper that is acid-free and has thin external sizing. Type-C paper is quite absorbent and it allows smooth "dreamy" color blending and strong use of special wet-on-wet watercolor techniques like granulation and blooms. Works also perfectly with ink and gouache painting. Stays flat even under heavy water use.
Pleinly C-type watercolor paper allows you to get a similar dreamy and poetic look that you see on traditional Japanese and Chinese art where absorbent rice paper is used allowing very soft and dreamy wet background washes and delicate dry-brush work on foreground to create unique contrast.
For me as a watercolorist this paper can give more poetic results than fully sized papers. It works especially well for the works that are started in a wet-on-wet technique and paint until the paper is dried out in one go - alla prima style - with only delicate layering and corrections. See painting examples.
Also Excellent for Ink & Gouache: Ink painters traditionally use unsized or use semi-sized papers which have very absorbent or semi-absorbent surface. This paper works like a semi-absorbent surface.
30 Loose Sheets – 14.2 × 10.4” (36 × 26.5 cm): Includes 30 loose sheets packed in a resealable airtight bag and protective carton for safe storage. Ideal for studio use, plein-air painting, workshops, and travel
Perfect Fit for Pleinly Backing Boards: Each sheet fits the Pleinly 16 × 12” varnished backing board. Tape gently to the board for stable painting at home or outdoors (see video for handling tips).
Part of the Pleinly Painting System: Uses the same C-Type paper as Pleinly sketchbooks. Compatible with Pleinly backing boards, wet panel carriers, and easel systems for safe transport of wet artwork.
Also Excellent for Ink, Gouache & Line-and-Wash: The soft cotton surface accepts ink beautifully without skating or excessive beading. Well suited for pen-and-wash, loose ink sketching, and expressive gouache. Use gentle techniques; not intended for heavy erasing.
Please see photos & videos for tips how to wet the paper and especially how to tape the edges carefully to avoid tearing.
